Among the year's most memorable series of 2023 had to be HBO's breakout hit 'White Lotus.' Sydney Sweeney's performance as an ironically disaffected teenager pushed her to stardom -- and Sweeney shocked the world with a new interview.
Turns out, moms really do know best.
Sweeney, 26, revealed in an interview in Glamour UK that she had intense body image issues when she was younger, so much so that at 18 she yearned to turn in her curvy body for a breast reduction. Her mom talked her out of it and she's never looked back.
“Flaunt what you got. Own it. Love them. When I was in high school, I used to feel uncomfortable about how big my boobs were and I used to say that when I turned 18, I was going to get a boob job to make them smaller.”
So, what exactly was her mom's advice?
“My mom told me, ‘Don’t do it. You’ll regret it in college,’ ” Sweeney said. “And I’m so glad I didn’t. I like them. They’re my best friends. Everybody’s body is beautiful. When you are confident and you’re happy within is when it really shows to other people.”
Her natural assets still come with some misconceptions, Sweeney told the magazine, including that people preconceive her as a 'dumb blonde with big tits,' but she's decided to work with what she has. And it's obviously working for her: She has a half dozen high-profile projects in the works.
But what she really wants to do next involves more behind the camera than in front of it. She said she really wants to be a producing powerhouse.
“I really love producing and I dream about projects all the time,” she says, adding, "I like trying out everything”.
