A youth football coach in Georgia is facing backlash after a video caught him attacking one of his players.
In the video a young Savannah Gators player is walking off the field when his coach pushes him, yells something toward the sideline and then shoves him again.
The incident reportedly happened at the American Youth Football National Championships, in Kissimmee, FL.
The coach reportedly apologized for his actions saying the player and his parents have forgiven him.
The coach says, “at the end of the day, I’m a man and I’m not going to make no excuses for what I did, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have disciplined him in public, I should’ve waiting till we got back for doing what he did.”
The reported Facebook page of the Savannah Gators said in a since deleted post, “Please keep the negative comments off this page please this organization has great coaches we understand what we all saw yesterday was disturbing to us all but lets’ not blame everyone for one mans (sic) actions.”
The post went on to say the 9-year-old coach “is a good guy that just took it a little to (sic) far on a 9u player.”
There have been several calls on social media for the yet identified coach to be fired and/or face charges.
