New bill could expand liquor sales to grocery stores in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania's alcohol laws have long been harsh and made the sale of liquor harder than most states.

In recent years, however, has Pennsylvania eased on their liquor laws, and that might continue with a proposed new bill.

The bill proposed by Washington County Representative Tim O'Neal, would expand where can be purchased across the state.

According to O'Neal, Pennsylvania has the second strictest liquor laws in the United States.

"Now is the time to bring it into the 21st century."

The bill would be an expansion to Act 39 from 2016 that allowed grocery and convenient stores to sell beer and wine.

The idea is to allow those same places to sell liquor in their stores.

O'Neal is hoping to meet with the House Liquor Control Committee Chair next week.
