As President-elect Joe Biden continues his transition into the White House, he named former Pennsylvania Department of Education Secretary Pedro Rivera to his Agency Review Team.
The team is being constructed of professionals and experts who will help ensure a smooth transition of power to the Biden Administration.
Rivera was assigned to serve on the agency review team for the U.S. Department of Education.
On Wednesday, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf released a statement of congratulations to Rivera.
"Pedro Rivera was an excellent secretary of education for Pennsylvania and he is a tremendous choice by President-elect Biden to help prepare the education efforts of the next administration," Gov. Wolf said. "Pedro's leadership was critical to rebuilding strong relationships to local school communities and improving the quality of education in our state.
Shortly after Wolf was elected to the Governor position in 2015, he named Rivera as Secretary of Education for Pennsylvania.
On Oct. 1, Rivera was named the president of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
Under Rivera's leadership, the state saw a reduction in the overreliance on standardized testing and created the innovative Future Ready PA Index.
Gov. Wolf went on to say "I am proud that Pedro served in my cabinet and I look forward to his efforts to help set the values and priorities of the incoming administration."
