The animosity between President Trump and Elon Musk is ratcheting up after the passing of the large Republican spending bill last week.
Musk says now says he's going to try to start a third party called the “American Party”.
Political analyst Lenny McAllister tells the Big K Morning Show there are some serious questions that have to be asked for Musk to be successful at this.
“The first question is, what is the philosophy with this party?,” asked McAllister. "Because Elon Musk has been across the board. He's been on the far-left, he's been now, with MAGA. What does that third-party look like, number one and number two, what’s the purpose of the third-party? Is it just to get back at Donald Trump or is it truly to rejigger the process of American Politics?”
Some people have tried to start a third party in the past, but failed.
McAllister says it's possible that Musk could get traction with his attempt.
“It was a candidate trying to do it, it was Ross Perot, it was Michael Bloomberg, it was Andrew Yang,” said McCallister. “When you have a big person with a lot of money trying to start that new party as the candidate, it’s not as successful as somebody that says ‘I’ll write the checks, you do the work.’ If Elon Musk is talking about that, that’s a different game altogether.”
According to an online poll, 65 percent of Musk's supporters - said he should form a new party.
