The Commonwealth has upgraded its unclaimed property system for the first time in many years.

Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity tells Larry and Kevin on the NewsRadio KDKA morning show that there’s plenty of property sitting in the state vault now, and will be released soon.
“It will be in a few months and you know we have four billion dollars in unclaimed property,” said Garrity.
Just after the upgrade, officials returned more than 20-million dollars’ worth of items to their rightful owners, but the rest of the jewelry, coins, and cash is still waiting.
Most items come from financial institutions that are required to turn over any unclaimed property after three years.
You can go to the Treasury website, click “search now” and enter your name and town to see if there’s anything for you to claim.
