Numbers from the state Department of Health from January through August show that vaccines work.
Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam says:
"94% of cases reported during this time period were in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people".
And that means the chance of a breakthrough COVID case is about 5.5% for the fully vaccinated.
Beam says Pennsylvanians who don't get shots are about seven times more likely to be infected.
