Governor Shapiro says some Pennsylvanians who use the SNAP program will start to see funds being added onto their cards Friday.
He says those people whose benefits would have been delivered on November 1 will be getting their funds today.
Shapiro says this is after the Trump Administration was ordered by the courts to make the payment of roughly $100 million to Pennsylvania, and the money began arriving on November 7.
Shapiro lashed out at Vice President Vance who called that ruling "absurd", especially since Vance has celebrated his Appalachian roots.
“And you’ll excuse me for getting emotional about it, but when I see hungry people in my state, who are hungry because of J.D. Vance’s bulls**t, that makes me angry,” said Shapiro.
Vance had called the court order to provide full SNAP funding “absurd”.
“After claiming all these things his whole life and literally go to court to stop hungry people from eating, that is not only phony, that is shameful,” added Shapiro. “And that is who is leading America today.”
He says they're working on further legal action as the Trump Administration fights the restoration of full funds, because it wants the emergency funds to go to WIC programs.
The White House says the court ruling would "starve Peter to feed Paul” and that they have fought the full restoration of SNAP funding, saying the emergency payments should be going to the Women Infant and Children's program or WIC.
