Pennsylvania lawmakers have introduced bipartisan legislation to legalize recreational marijuana.

State Reps. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) and Emily Kinkead (D-Allegheny) say the bill prioritizes public safety, consumer protection, social equity, and criminal justice reform.

In a news release, it states the proposed legislation would create jobs and generate significant tax revenue for the Commonwealth while helping eliminate the illicit market plaguing many communities.

The bill would also allow farmers to participate and would create opportunities for those disproportionately impacted by outdated cannabis policies.
