More crashes reported over Thanksgiving compared to last year

Pennsylvania State Police say there was an increase in total and fatal crashes around the state during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The annual report says 979 vehicle crashes were reported between November 11 – 26 with four people killed in four separate crashes.

197 people were injured.

Of those accidents, 73 were alcohol-related, none of the fatal crashes were alcohol-related.

It’s an increase over last year when there were 970 crashes and one person was killed.

The number of people injured was similar at 196.

Alcohol-related crashes were sharply up this year with 48 being reported last year compared to the 73 in 2023.

More people were arrested this year for DUI by State Police with 542 charged compared to 539 last year.

10,590 speeding tickets were given out, 133 child seat violations were reported, 1,187 seat belt violations and 18,870 others were handed out by State Police.
