Trout season in Pennsylvania kicks off Saturday, April 3 beginning at 8am.
To give anglers options for overnight stays at state parks, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced that 16 additional state parks will be available for camping ahead of opening day.
“We know how trout fishing and state park camping often go hand in hand and we are doing our best to facilitate these traditional recreational pursuits,” Dunn said. “This is a one-time extension reflecting pandemic-related changes to trout season’s opening day set forth by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.”
In western Pennsylvania, the parks new to the list include Parker Dam in Clearfield County, Ohiopyle in Fayette County, Clear Creek in Jefferson County and Chapman in Warren County.
Other parks in our region already on the list include Raccoon Creek in Beaver County, Ryerson Station in Greene County, Kooser and Laurel Hill in Somerset County and Keystone in Westmoreland County.
Campers will be able to stay in the parks beginning April 2 for Opening Day on April 3. On March 27, there will be a statewide Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day.
