The Pennsylvania Turnpike is offering customers a new way to pay their Toll By Plate invoices in cash and load their E-Z Pass.
A new partnership with KUBRA Cash Payment Network will allow drivers to pay in person at over 70,000 popular retailers across the country, including Sheetz, Walgreens and Dollar General.
Turnpike spokesperson Rosanne Placey said when the pandemic sparked a charge to all electronic tolling, it was clear some customers were getting left behind.
"We came to understand there are customers that still want to have a cash option to pay their tolls," she said.
The program is also intended for people without a bank account or for those who prefer to load their E-Z Pass ahead of a trip.
There is still an online component. Users will initiate their payment online or via the PA TOLL PAY app. They'll receive a pay slip for a $1.50 fee and a list of available locations to pay. They can then pay their bill in cash at one of those locations.
