PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — The Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Control Enforcement Officers completed their most recent round of check-ins across the state.
The officers visited 729 licensed liquor locations between Monday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 3.
The Enforcement Officers performed the check-ins to ensure that businesses are adhering to COVID-centric safety and health protocol, such as social distancing and mask-wearing.
In the latest wave of checks, the officers handed out six violations and issued 28 warnings.
Pittsburgh received the lion's share of the citations.
To start, Pittsburgh received five out of the six violations.
Pittsburgh also received nine of the 28 warnings.
The only other city to receive a violation was Erie, with the remaining one.
The 19 other warnings were spread out among Philadelphia with one, Wilkes-Barre with four, Harrisburg with two, Altoona with three, Punxsutawney with two, Erie with four, and Allentown with three.
Pittsburgh received the second-most number of check-ins with 204, following just behind Philadelphia's 222.
These compliance checks come to random area businesses without notice to confirm that they're following the proper public health guidelines.
Employees, owners, and patrons of the company must adhere to the following requirements:
1. Require all customers to wear masks while entering, exiting or otherwise traveling throughout the restaurant or retail food service business (face masks may be removed while seated). Further, employees are required to wear masks at all times.
2. Provide at least six feet between parties at tables or physical barriers between customers where booths are arranged back to back.
3. Ensure maximum occupancy limits for indoor and outdoor areas are posted and enforced.
Businesses receiving violations will not be disclosed by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement since investigations are still ongoing.
