Governor Wolf's office says he will veto a bill that passed the Pennsylvania Senate yesterday.
It would require the Governor to get legislative approval to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
The 11-state plan would impose fees for industrial carbon dioxide emissions. The governor told Larry and Kevin on the KDKA Radio Morning Show "I think it would be irresponsible for the state to sit idly by and just sort of wring our hands and say 'well, there's nothing I can do.' There is something we can do and I'd like to try to do it.
According to the RGGI website, the initiative is an effort to "cap and reduce CO2 emissions from the power sector."
The states currently part of the effort include Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia.
The House will now consider the bill.
