Christmas is a little over a week away and early forecasts show it could be one of the coldest in nearly 40 years.
AccuWeather meteorologist Dean DeVore says a large mass of arctic air will make its way into the Pittsburgh mid-next week.
“It’s cold and then gets really cold for us, as temperatures may not get out of the teens for a couple days towards the end of next week,” DeVore told The Big K Morning Show.
DeVore adds depending on how far south the arctic make it, temperatures for Christmas may have a hard time getting out of the teens.
Even if the system doesn’t make it that far south, temps will only be in the 20s.
Lows on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be close to single digits.
As of now, there could be some snow showers on Christmas Eve, but no serious accumulation at this time.
