There is the potential for our first major snow of the season toward the end of the week.

AccuWeather’s Dean DeVore tells The Big K Morning Show two to six inches of snow could fall across the area Thursday evening into Friday.

After that, “It’s windy and cold and then we get in the death by snow showers every five seconds with the lake effect kicking in as temperatures will stay in the 20s near 30 and then that’s the weekend ahead where it’s just on an off snow showers,” said DeVore.

With lake-effect snow possible through the weekend, DeVore says additional accumulation could add up, especially north of Pittsburgh.

It’s due, in part, to a massive storm out west that will cause a low pressure system in the east that could bring that accumulating snow.

Snow forecasts can be tricky, so we’ll be monitoring the forecast through the week, but as of now, it looks like we could get our first real feel of snow about a week out from Christmas.
