A freeze watch will be in effect for western Pennsylvania Monday night into Tuesday morning.
It’s the kind of forecast that’s typical for Pittsburgh this time of year. You’ll need a heavy coat during the beginning of the week and then have to break out the sunscreen this weekend.
The freeze warning going into effect at 10 p.m. Monday and lasts through 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Temperatures will be in the mid to low 30s overnight with wind gusts over 20mph possible.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore says while it will be cold early this week, there is the potential for some accumulating snow later in the week.
“I could see some on some grassy surfaces little coating here or there is possible as we wake up Wednesday morning for sure,” said DeVore.
DeVore says if that does happen it, could at least tie the record for the region's earliest measured snowfall. The current record is 1.8 inches, measured exactly 50 years ago Tuesday on October 18 1972.
There is some good news for those that don’t like the cold. It will warm up this weekend with temperatures close to 70 with plenty of sunshine.
