PennDOT is bracing for winter weather and COVID-19.
The salt sheds and brine tanks are full says PennDOT Allegheny County Maintenance Manager Lori Musto.
This year, PennDOT has also implemented COVID safety plans that stress physical distance and masks.
Plexiglass has been installed in PennDOT's sheds and operators now remain in their vehicles and do not enter the shed.
Musto also says as much as possible, crew members are assigned to the same equipment to lessen spread of the virus.
Right now, they are at full staff. She says District 11, which includes Allegheny, Beaver and Lawrence Counties, is fully stocked with more than 57,000 tons of salt and 101,000 gallons of brine to treat roads.
