Rain will fall through much of the day turning into snow in the evening.

Temperatures will dip below freezing late Thursday and will continue to fall through into the low 20s on Friday.

Allegheny County Public Works say they are expecting the snow to start sticking on pavement surfaces around 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

At least 24 trucks will be deployed to plow the roads but with rain in the forecast in the day, pretreating roadways with salt will be impossible.
