Gov. Wolf marks one year of first PA COVID cases with statement of hope

Saturday, March 6, 2021 marks one year since the first presumed positive cases of COVID-19 reached the state of Pennsylvania.

In the full year, over there have been over 944,000 cases of coronavirus within the state, and over 24,000 deaths.


Gov. Tom Wolf, gave a statement honoring those lives lost with a message to all Pennsylvanians.

"It's been a hard year." Gov. Wolf said. "One full of unimaginable loss and broken dreams. We lost far too many friends… far too many loved ones."

Gov. Wolf went on to thank each Pennsylvanian for working together to make it through these hard times, and mention how proud he is.

He thanked the public for adhering to and taking the cautious steps in hopes to mitigate the spread of the virus.

"Today we commemorate the hardship of the past year," Gov. Wolf said. "But we also look forward to the future. There is a light at the end of the tunnel."

As citizens grieve and reflect on the hardships of the past year, and honor those lost, there is still hope in the future.

Efforts of the vaccine production and distribution has been increasing.

Gov. Wolf closed out his statement with a message of hope.

"Let yourself grieve, but also let yourself hope. A brighter future is on the horizon."
