Usually when people venture out into the ocean, its sharks they are worried about. However, it was another sea creature that recently attempted to show people they are not to be messed with. A geologist in Australia went viral recently after capturing the moment an octopus attempted to attack him and his daughter.
Lance Karlson recently took his two year old daughter to Geographe Bay, a popular snorkeling spot in Australia, where they had a surprise encounter with an octopus. As seen in the viral clip, the man is recording the octopus under water when it quickly snaps its tentacles aggressively towards him. “I took that footage, it lashed out at me and I was quite surprised; and then it swam off into deeper water," said Karlson.
While the geologist thought the encounter was over, the octopus would later return, this time successfully stinging the man on the neck and back, according to CNN. Luckily, he was able to get back to his hotel where he poured soda on the wound to ease the pain. Maybe now people won’t assume octopi are always friendly.
