According to a report, the Steelers have used a rare tender on free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the right-of-first-refusal tender would pay Rodgers 10 percent more compared to last year, which would work out to around $15 million.
The tender also means a couple other things, the Steelers can match any offer that is made by another team and “Rodgers would only be able to sign with the Steelers once training camp begins.”
That means, once training camp starts, Rodgers can only sign with the Steelers.
He can sign with any team before training camp.
This is how the NFL defines the tender:
Right-of-first-refusal tender: One-year contract worth $3.547 million. Team has the right to match any offer sheet signed with another team, but there is no draft compensation tied to this tender.
