There could be a playoff game at Acrisure Stadium this month even if the Steelers fail to reach the postseason.
An NFL source told The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi that if the AFC Championship is played at a neutral site, it will be in Pittsburgh.

To quote Fillipponi, that would be wild.
On Friday, NFL owners approved several rule changes that stem from the cancellation of Bills-Bengals, which carried big playoff implications. The scenarios involve the AFC’s three top seeds, the Bills, Chiefs and Bengals, and how they fare this weekend.
If the Bills and Chiefs both win or tie and wind up facing off in the title game, it would be played at a neutral site. If the Bills and Chiefs both lose or the Ravens win, a Bills-Chiefs AFC Championship would also be played at a neutral site.
Lastly, if the Bills and Chiefs lose and the Bengals win, a Buffalo or Cincinnati vs. Kansas City AFC Championship would take place at a neutral site as well.
Everybody got that?
The resolution approved by NFL owners says Roger Goodell would choose the neutral site. While there have been rumors about Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis being the front-runner, playing in Pittsburgh would factor weather into the equation.
In other words, it would be real playoff football. The question is, how would Steelers fans feel about other teams playing for the AFC Championship at Acrisure Stadium?
It would certainly be a weird image.
