While Pirates rising star Ke’Bryan Hayes may have made a big gaffe in Tuesday night’s game against the Dodgers, not stepping on first after hitting a home run and being called out, there was still plenty of star power on the field at PNC Park in a Pirates jersey.

Actor Jeff Daniels threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game while the crowd cheered him on.

Daniels is in the Pittsburgh area filming a Showtime series called “American Rust”.

The show is a drama that, according to Showtime will, “explore the tattered American dream through the eyes of complicated and compromised chief of police Del Harris (Daniels) in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania. When the woman he truly loves sees her son accused of murder, Harris is forced to decide what he's willing to do to protect him.”

The show is based off a novel that takes place in Fayette County.

The show also stars Bill Camp, David Alvarez and Alex Neustaedter.

The first episode is expected to air this September.

While Daniels may have been in a Pirates uniform on Tuesday, it’s evident just by looking at his Twitter page that he is a big Detroit Tigers fan, his hometown team.

So maybe the Pirates can be his favorite National League team.
