Adam Frazier Not Bothered by Trade Rumors

"I just try to worry about the game each and every day."

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) Adam Frazier has been the biggest bright spot in a dark season for the Pirates. He may have earned himself a starting spot in the All-Star Game, but he may also be playing his way out of town.

Frazier joined Andrew Fillipponi of The PM Team on the Pirates Re-Opening Weekend to discuss his breakout year and the trade rumors that come with his success.

The Pirates second basemen isn't just relaxed at the plate, he's relaxed about everything that comes with All-Star caliber play on a last place team. Frazier, who only has one year of arbitration left, might be the best trade piece for Ben Cherington as the deadline approaches at the end of July.

"I try to stay off of social media as much as I can, especially when it comes to that stuff because I can't really control what's going to happen with that, and I just try to worry about the game each and every day."

Frazier contributes his success this season to that same mindset.

"Just being in the moment every day, focusing a little better than I have before I feel like. Just taking it one at-bat at a time and trying to control what I can control."

That nonchalant approach has manifested itself in the second highest batting average in the National League sitting at .327 and only behind Nick Castellanos of the Reds. The chance of surpassing Castellanos and winning a batting crown appeared to excite the 29-year-old second basemen.

"It would be unbelievable. It's something I hang my hat on, getting the hits and the average because I'm not the big power-guy like we talked about."

Though he's not going to allow it to make him abandon that mindset that has gotten him to this point.

"That'd be awesome, but we still got half a season to go, so I know we just take it one day at a time and see what happens at the end."
