PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — After a six-year wait, Alan Faneca is heading to Canton.

The now Hall of Fame guard won’t be the only Steeler being inducted either with “super scout” Bill Nunn also being inducted under the Contributor category posthumously.

Joining them is Charles Woodson, Tom Flores, John Lynch, Drew Pearson, Calvin Johnson and Peyton Manning.

Faneca played 13 season in the NFL, 10 as a Steelers and helped the team capture its 5th world title in Super Bowl XL.

Faneca was a first round pick of the Steelers in 1998.  The LSU star missed one game in his career and was selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls in his 13 years in the NFL.

Faneca spoke after his selection.

Faneca’s selection was long overdue, as was Nunn’s

The Steelers would not have had the success they did in the 1970s if it weren’t for Nunn.

Nunn is best known for help building the Steelers’ dynasty of the 1970s, helping draft John Stallworth, Mel Blount and Donnie Shell along with helping locate talent at small colleges including Jack Lambert from Kent State.

Before joining the Steelers, Nunn worked as a sportswriter at the Pittsburgh Courier and joined the Steelers in 1968.

The Homewood native was with the Steelers until 2013. He passed away in 2014.

Cydney Nunn, Bill’s granddaughter spoke with Missi Matthews after his selection.
