Ben Roethlisberger sounds like a Yinzer who longs for the days of the Super 70’s Steelers.
On his Footbahlin’ podcast, with Spence, the retired Steeler quarterback was critical of his former team saying there isn’t accountability on the team, more specifically the offense.
“The tradition of Pittsburgh Steelers is done, maybe it needs to be formed a new kind of way,” said Roethlisberger. “Who’s grabbing someone by the facemask and being like . . . that’s not what we do. Is that happening? You have guys on defense doing it but you need guys on both sides of the ball doing it. You need someone to stand up in that room, on offense, and be like ‘hey, this isn’t what it means to wear the black and gold’.”
The Fan Morning Show discussed Big Ben’s comments. Adam Crowley believes it’s a shot at both Head Coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Kenny Pickett, but Dorin Dickerson disagrees.
Dickerson says Roethlisberger wasn’t the kind of player that would grab a player’s facemask and get them in line. That was the kind of thing a Maurkice Pouncey would do.
Crowley things that Tomlin’s message is still getting the attention of the older players but not so much with the younger guys like George Pickens.
