The voice of the Pitt Panthers for over 40 years, Bill Hillgrove has already established himself as one of the great all-time voices in sports.
During radio pregame with Curtis Aiken before Pitt took on North Carolina, Hillgrove was hit in the head with a basketball, and didn't miss a beat.
"I just got hit in the face. Am I okay? Am I bleeding?" asked Hillgrove.
"No you're not," responded Aiken.
Hillgrove then continued with pregame, not missing a beat saying being hit just woke him up.
Talking to 93.7 The Fan on Thursday, he said he feels fine and no damage was done.
Hillgrove said the North Carolina player came to retrieve the ball and "Kind of looked at me as if to say welcome to the arena."
Surprisingly Hillgrove says that is the first time he was ever hit with a basketball in all his years of play-by-play but his brother, an engineer was hit with a basketball square in the face that caused bleeding.
Hillgrove and Aiken will call the action on Saturday evening when Georgia Tech comes to the Petersen Events Center.
Listen to the game live on 93.7 The Fan.
