Billboard calls for Rooney to fire Tomlin or sell the Steelers

One Steelers fan is taking his frustrations with the team’s decisions to a billboard.

Steelers superfan Kevin Adams, who also co-hosts the Steel Here podcast and is creator of the Terrible Tailgate had the billboard put up on the Boulevard of the Allies.

The billboard reads: “The Standard is mediocrity. Trade [Mike] Tomlin or sell the team, Rooney’ We’ve had enough.”

Adams tells KDKA Radio why he decided to put up the billboard.

We’ve spent years being told changes would come. And year after year, no changes are made. Not to the staff. Not to the approach. And certainly not to the results. It’s been almost a decade without a post season win and the only constant in the entire equation has been Mike Tomlin. Hall of Fame head coach, but the message has gone stale. They are the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mediocrity is not good enough. For many other franchises it would be, but not in Pittsburgh. It’s time to try something new.

Adams’ efforts are similar to a group of Pirates fans frustrated with the current ownership of the baseball team.

The Steelers have made minimal changes to their coaching staff after losing the last 5 games of the season, including another blowout playoff loss, this one to the division rival Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers won their last playoff game in 2016 and have lost badly in each of the past five games in the postseason.

The Steelers gave Tomlin a three-year contract extension last offseason. His current deal runs through 2027.
