Bleier: Conner would not have helped against Washington, receivers need to stop wearing gloves

Steelers legend Rocky Bleier doesn’t think the running game would’ve been any more effective on Monday with James Conner.

The former running back and Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient said on Instagram that Washington beat the Steelers at the line of scrimmage and “they had grate pursuit and aggressive coverage.”

With a lack of a run game, the Steelers looked to the passing game, but with so many drops from receivers, that too became ineffective.

Bleier’s solution for all the dropped passes is to stop wearing gloves.

“Get rid of the gloves,” said Bleier.

When it comes to the running game, Bleier says they need to get that back if they want to control the clock.

“To win football games you have to control the football, eat up the clock, you do that by running the ball, what you have to understand is having a running game is a mindset, it’s imposing your will on your opponent,”

While the Steelers control their own destiny, Bleier is a little concerned about their play.

“This is a period when you need to start dominating as you wind up the season and head into the playoffs,” said Bleier.

Bleier adds that with the stress of an undefeated season off their shoulders, they can now focus on the task at hand.
