According to a report, The Steelers traded wide receiver Chase Claypool, at least in part, because he was a “distraction.”
Josina Anderson with CBS Sports, said she heard “over the last week the Steelers moved on from what they felt like was somewhat of a ‘distraction’ behind-the scene. I’m told the Claypool move has been on the table for ‘at least two weeks’ per league source.”
93.7 The Fan’s Jeff Hathhorn says he doesn’t think the distraction is as big of a deal as it’s made out to be, but does admit that Claypool may have said some things that rubbed people the wrong way, especially after the Dolphins loss.
Hathhorn added he actually think Claypool has matured compared to how he acted in his first two seasons when he was around JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Anderson adds that the initial offer for Claypool was too low for the Steelers and the Bears improved the offer and Pittsburgh took it.
Anderson also said the Steelers are ready to give wide receiver an "expanded role."
