One of the big stories coming out of the Steelers victory Sunday against the Falcons in Atlanta was George Pickens and his reaction to the lack of involvement in the game.
Pickens was visibly upset seen yelling toward coaches on the sidelines.
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday during his weekly press conference that he had not issue with Pickens express himself and wanting the ball.
"I'd rather say whoa than sick'em."
While it's way too early to know what kind of player Pickens will from a personality perspective, as Josh Rowntree pointed out on his show, there is a reason he fell into the second round.
One of them being an injury, but the other reason is fears of immaturity.
One scout says "he can't get out of his own way, he's been enabled his whole like."
Another called him a "top six talent" but said he has "issues."
A third said "he is probably a top five wide receiver but there's just so many red flags and they're big red flags, he's got a lot of growing up to do. If he goes to the right place with a room full of veterans that help him go the right way, I think he'll have a chance."
As Rowntree points out, there aren't a lot of veterans on the offense, which would explain why defensive captain Cam Heyward came over and spoke with him.
Rowntree does believe Pickens will grow, become a good player and mature, but he "thought those same things about Martavis Bryant."
During Training Camp Rowntree said that he was being told there were no issues.
But now, after only a dozen games in the NFL, Pickens is demanding passes are thrown to him.
Like we said, too early to tell what kind of person Pickens will grow into at only 21-years-old but the Steelers are likely hoping he doesn't a "diva quotient" to him.
