Dallas is a potential landing spot for George Pickens

What an NFL insider said on the PM Team

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – There is a potential suitor for Steelers receiver George Pickens and it would likely be the only other team with more eyes on it than the Steelers.

Yahoo Sports NFL insider Charles Robinson told the PM Team on 93.7 The Fan one of the most prominent questions going around before the start of the NFL Draft is the Dallas Cowboys want for a wide receiver.

“The Cowboys are hunting wide receivers and they really want to get a wide receiver at 12,” Robinson told Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller on 93.7 The Fan. “They want an elite-level number two. There is not necessarily an elite-level number two (in the Draft). Right now, since (Dallas owner) Jerry Jones is talking about trades, teams are wondering if that is George Pickens.”

Robinson said the Cowboys assessment that when they pick at 12th overall, there is not an elite number two receiver available. Dallas doesn’t believe Luther Burden III (Missouri), Matthew Golden (Texas) and Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State), all expected to be available at that time, are good enough to select that high.

Other teams suspect that Dallas would trade for Pickens, which would solve their wide receiver question and allow them to pick a different position in the first round. Robinson believes the return for the Steelers would be a second day draft pick, meaning a second, or more likely, Dallas’ third-round pick. Robinson told the PM Team Pickens skillset is exactly what the Cowboys want to add.

Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie deal after playing in 14 games last year with 59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns. In 2023, Pickens had career highs with 63 receptions, 1,140 yards, five touchdowns and averaged 18.1 yards-per-catch.
