You think a little bloody sock is going to stop savvy veteran Alex Smith's gears from turning in that experienced football mind of his?
At the end of the first half, Smith led his offense down the field with under a minute to go and with only one timeout to spare, which Washington used with 24 ticks left on the clock. But the subsequent third-and-16 play didn't go the way Smith and the Football Team wanted, as he was sacked without much time to spare. Setting up for a field goal on fourth down and just seconds left? Impossible... or is it?
The clock stopped after the referees couldn't find the ball to place for the field goal, which may just have been a coincidence. But it also, and more likely, could have been an intentional move from Smith.
If you ask the Twitter consensus — which doesn't exclude many angry Steelers fans — they sure think Smith did it intentionally.

We'll just have to wait for the postgame presser to find out for sure.
