According to a report, the Steelers are restructuring wide receiver DK Metcalf’s contract.
ESPN’s Field Yates says that the Steelers are “converting (Metcalf’s) base salary into a signing bonus and creating nearly $18M in 2026 salary cap space.”
That would be about $17.75 million total.
Previously, Metcalf’s contract delivered a $31 million cap hit for the Steelers.
After T.J. Watt, Metcalf had the second-highest cap hit on the team, behind T.J. Watt’s $42 million.
Prior to the restructure, the Steelers only had a little over $1.1 million in cap space left (according to Over the Cap).
With the restructure, they have a lot more space to work with.
