It doesn’t look like the “Duck” is going to be in black and gold moving forward.

Champion duck caller and NFL quarterback Devlin Hodges’ contract with the Steelers expired.

Hodges was one of a handful of players who have not been signed to a reserve/future deal.

Hodges took to social media on Tuesday to thank the team and the city.

“Pittsburgh! Thankful for the opportunity and the ability to live out my dream. Nothing but love! QUACK!.”

After Starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and backup Mason Rudolph went out with injuries, Hodges got the opportunity to play in eight games in 2019, going 3-3.

He had 1,063 yards with five touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Hodges spent the entire 2020 season on the practice squad for Pittsburgh.

Others players whose contracts expire include running back Wendell Smallwood, wide receiver Deon Cain, tight end Charles Jones and kickers Matthew Wright, who kicked for the injured Chris Boswell in three games.

With Roethlisberger, Rudolph and Josh Dobbs on the team, Hodges was cut in 2019, but after the first week of the season was signed to the practice squad after the Steelers traded Dobbs to Jacksonville.

He was moved to the 53-man after Roethlisberger went out with a season-ending elbow injury.

With Roethlisberger’s future under center uncertain and Dobbs’ inability to be a starting quarterback in the NFL, it could be Rudolph surrounded by new faces in the QB room next season.
