Maybe you don't think I should be telling someone how to do their business who is involved in a family business that's been the same since 1933.

You're thinking, "hell, what do you know?"

Perhaps you think some mouthy loudmouth who yammers into a microphone has no industry telling Art Rooney II how to run the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That's fair.

And maybe even a solid point.

What's also fair is this: When your organization is one that goes six consecutive postseasons without a win, I'm going to offer some unsolicited advice. When your football outfit has just three playoff wins in the past 12 seasons, I'm not going to feel one bit guilty telling you what I think.

When there are a bunch of playoff games on my TV this weekend and your team isn't scheduled to play in any of them, I'm going to let you know what you are doing wrong.

I think many of you probably know I think Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada is ill-equipped to be the boss of an NFL offense. It isn't just that he should be terminated immediately, but he never should have been hired.

It is that simple.

The guy ain't it. Never has been.

But that's just the surface level stuff.

Now to the real point …

People have bandied about and knocked around just how good quarterback Kenny Pickett can be moving into the future. That's really not that important. Instead, what is important is that the Steelers appear to have the man they are confident will guide them for years to come.

Kenny Pickett is HIM for the Steelers. At least in the immediate he is.

All that said, the big point is this: Kenny Pickett should get a vote. He should be involved in any and all processes right now and moving forward.

If a meeting didn't happen already, one should as soon as possible with the sole purpose of asking --- without Canada present --- if Pickett wants a change in the offensive coordinator. Pickett shouldn't have the lone vote, but his voice should be very weighty in all of this. And the man meeting with him should be Art Rooney II. And the meeting should be point blank and free of any nonsense or beating around of bushes.

Does Pickett want Canada or not? Truth only.

On top of that, if it advances to where Kenny Pickett doesn't want to keep Canada around (and why would he?) the quarterback should be pivotal and essential in the hiring process of the next offensive coordinator. Pickett shouldn't only be in on the interview process, he should have influence on who is hired.

This is the only way to go right now. The Steelers have clearly identified Pickett as the man at the most critical position in sports. With it should come the ability to start calling a bunch of shots.

The first of which is who he wants to coordinate the offense.
