PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – So what are the Steelers getting in reportedly bringing in New Castle native Scott McCurley to be their next inside linebacker coach.
First reported by the Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, the former Mohawk High School all-conference football player was a walk-on at Pitt lettering all four years at linebacker. He stayed as a graduate assistant coaching the 2004 Pitt team that won the Big East championship.
McCurley then started his professional career in 2006 with Greenfield native Mike McCarthy as an assistant working in various roles before being elevated to quality control on the defensive side. In 2014 he moved up to assistant linebackers coach and in 2018 became a defensive assistant with the Packers before joining McCarthy again with the Dallas Cowboys as their linebackers coach since 2020.
Aaron Curry was the Steelers inside linebackers coach the last two seasons but left for a similar position with the New York Jets last week.
Earlier this week the Steelers hired Gerald Alexander to be the new secondary coach.
