Former Pirates pitcher Dave Giusti died on Sunday at the age of 86.
The right-hander's first season with the Pirates was 1970 and he was on the team that won the World Series the next year.
Giusti led the National League in 1971 30 saves and pitched 10 innings in the postseason.
Giusti, was an All-Star and ranks third among Pirates pitchers in all-time saves.
Giusti was known for his palmball, a highly-effective change-up pitch.
“After his playing career, Dave made his home in Pittsburgh and remained an active member of the community and the Pirates alumni group,” the Pirates said in a statement. “We extend our sincerest condolences to the Giusti family.”
