Henry Davis hits 4th homer in last 6 games

Pirates catcher Yasmani Grandal leaves with injury in 9th on Tuesday

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pirates manager Derek Shelton didn’t have much information as to the extent of the injury or exactly how it happened, but Pirates catcher Yasmani Grandal left the game in the ninth inning on Tuesday.

It was right after or during the time when Grandal had a key, one-out double in the ninth and later scored as the Pirates came back to beat San Francisco 7-6 in 10 innings.

Pirates said Grandal left with left groin discomfort. He might be fine, but if not, catcher Henry Davis is getting hot at AAA.

The 2021 first-round pick hit his fourth AAA home run in his last six games. The catcher has also doubled in Tuesday night’s game against Iowa, scored four runs as he also walked twice and drove in a pair of runs. Since May 12 he’s raised his average from .158 to .286 and the OPS is now 1.107.

Again, unknown the situation Grandal is in, but it appears Davis is finding his stroke in the minors.
