PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – After going through extensive work on the field to attempt to get ready for the game Sunday with the Steelers, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will play. Herbert suffered an ankle at the end of the Carolina game last week as he was rolled up on. He hadn’t been in a full practice all week.

With Jim Harbaugh taking over as head coach, the 26-year-old hasn’t had to throw much over the first couple of games this season with the Chargers having the best rushing offense in the NFL. Herbert was 17-26 for 144 yards and a touchdown in the opener and had a pair of touchdown passes and 14-20 against Carolina for 130 yards.

Now in his fifth year, Herbert has a 5,000-yard season on his resume and was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 throwing for 4,336 yards, 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s faced the Steelers one time, throwing for 382 yards and three touchdowns along with a career high 90 rushing yards.
