According to MLB Audacy insider Jon Heyman, there is absolutely no chance the Pirates trade superstar pitcher Paul Skenes.
Heyman posted on “X”, “Pirates source: Paul Skenes is not getting traded. “No chance, no way, no how,” is the way I heard it.”
Heyman trades involving a superstar with only one year of service doesn’t happen.
“The Pirates remain determined to build around Skenes,” Heyman added.
Joe Starkey says that while the Pirates have no intention on traded Skenes, that doesn’t mean the soon-to-be 23-year-old won’t ask for a trade in the future.
With the person the Skenes is though, Starkey doesn’t think it will happen.
Skenes is 3-5 this season over 10 starts, but has a 2.44 ERA with 62 strike outs over 62.2 innings pitched.
Skenes was impressive in his last start, going eight innings, striking out nine and allowing only one walk. But, the Pirates lost the game 1-0 to the Phillies on Sunday.
