PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Spencer Horwitz is in the Pirates clubhouse, but not yet active. Horwitz dealing with an additional issue as the Bucs play game two against Arizona Tuesday.
Working back from his hamstring injury, the Pirates starting first baseman got hit by a pitch in the head in his first at bat during a rehab game with Class A Bradenton. He would stay in the game, hit a home run, but now is dealing with concussion issues.
Pirates manager Don Kelly said Tuesday the team is evaluating and essentially taking it day-to-day as he remains on the injured list.
Through 74 games, Horwitz has career highs in batting average (.280), on-base percentage (.386) and OPS (.842).
