PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – One of the hottest Pirates hitters, catcher Joey Bart, but on the Injured List on Tuesday before the game with Colorado with a left-foot infection. The team recalling former Pirates Minor League Player of the Year, catcher Endy Rodriguez.
After a slow start, Bart was hitting .391 in his last seven games raising his average 101 points to .259.
Now 26 and missing much of last season due to elbow surgery, the switch-hitting Rodriguez was hitting .221 with a .326 on-base percentage with six doubles, a home run, 16 RBI. Rodriguez is just four for 22 in May with no extra base hits. He’s caught 20 games this season at AAA Indianapolis with a .985 fielding percentage and thrown out five of 16 runners attempting to steal.
