PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It's part of a 93.7 The Fan series of pros and cons for Steelers free agents to be.

OLB-Jayrone Elliott

BIO-He's part of the Mid-American Conference connection.  Undrafted out of Toledo, Elliott's long road started with the Green Bay Packers in 2014 and included time with Dallas, New Orleans, Dolphins and Eagles.  Elliott signed or protected by the Steelers 8 different times as he has bounced between the active roster and practice squad.   Elliott played in 8 games this year with 7 tackles, 2 TFL and a sack in 2020.  Four of those tackles, the sack, the 2 TFL and a QB hit all against the Browns on the final game of the regular season.

FOR-Elliott is now 29, but without a lot of tread taken off the tires and brings a lot of experience to a position where you likely will be without Bud Dupree.  He likely would cost under a million dollars and given the number of chances he's been given, he appears on the cusp of getting more NFL snaps.

AGAINST-It's a numbers game likely of who they sign between Cassius Marsh, Ola Adeniyi and Elliott.  While Elliott has been given a number of chances, maybe he's just not good enough.

PREDICTION-Elliott signs elsewhere, but potentially returns after being released by another team.
