It's official: Steelers will play in Dublin, Ireland this coming season

The announcement was made official Friday morning in video from the NFL UK & Ireland’s “X” account.

The game’s date and time will be revealed at a later date.

The game will be played at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.

The rumored opponent is the Green Bay Packers.

The only NFL game in history played in Ireland was a preseason game. The Steelers beat the Chicago Bears at Croke Park 30-17 in 1997.

“We are very excited to be the designated team in the first regular season game to be played in Ireland this upcoming season,” said Steelers’ President Art Rooney II. “The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special, not only because of the Rooney family history there, but also to play in front of the growing number of Steelers fans in Ireland. We are thrilled to be part of this historic event to represent Pittsburgh in a game that brings the NFL to the great sports fans in Ireland.

The Steelers and Rooney family have a long history with the Emerald Isle.

Beside the family’s lineage that goes back to Ireland, former owner Dan Rooney was the ambassador to Ireland under President Barrack Obama.

In 2023, the Steelers were awarded right to Ireland in the NFL’s “Global Markets Program.”
