Three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt says he is “1000 percent” retired, but that wasn’t the case the past season.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee from Las Vegas Watt said, “I definitely was monitoring the Steelers and Texans situations but it never escalated to any actual potential.”

“Trust me, it would’ve been an absolute dream come true to play with my brother would be great,” said Watt.

He says that the Texans and Steelers were “set” and the right opportunity didn’t present itself.

“If it was something where I could bring something that would help somebody to a potential Super Bowl situation where you fill in a need and something that could take them to a new level, absolutely, but just to do it would’ve been ridiculous,” said Watt.

Watt says when he famously visited Pittsburgh to spend a few days with his brother T.J.
Watt, that’s when he really got the itch to start playing.

But, “I felt all those emotions before the game, the next morning (T.J.) woke up sore, all bruised up has to go get treatment and everything, I popped up, went for a nice walk and have a coffee.”

After that game, the Steelers lost three in a row. He says at that point it was over.

Watt says there is no way he is coming back, especially after a full season away from the NFL, much to the disappointment of the Pittsburghers on McAfee’s staff.
