PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Hundreds of free agents signed already in the NFL, finally some news about Steelers running back and Pitt All-American James Conner. Fox Sports Jay Glazer, buddies with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, reports Conner is visiting the Arizona Cardinals today.
Several former Steelers have made their way to Arizona over the years, including Larry Foote, Bryan McFadden, Deshea Townsend, Alan Faneca, Clark Haggans, Joey Porter, Marcus Gilbert, even Joe Greene (not as a player).
Conner is coming off 721 yards, a 4.3 average, 6 touchdowns and another 215 yards on 35 receptions out of the backfield. The Erie native named to the Pro Bowl after the 2018 seasons—215 attempts, 973 yards, 55 receptions, 497 yards with 13 combined touchdowns.
If he were to sign with the Cardinals, he would compete with Chase Edmunds (a Harrisburg native who went to Fordham, 850 combined yards and 5 touchdowns in 2020) for carries.
