Speaking to reporters on Thursday before practice, Steelers coach Mike McCarthy said that Joey Porter Jr. is scheduled to do some work. He also seemed to get a little agitated about having to comments on the cornerback.
“Joey’s scheduled to do some more today,” said McCarthy, adding “I thought he had quality work yesterday, hit the target on what was planned for him.”
After the beginning of last week, Porter Jr. was listed on the injury report as going through conditioning.
Porter, Junior left practice last Thursday with an issue with his back. He didn’t play Sunday because of his back.
According to the Steelers, Porter Jr. has been cleared of his back injury, but Wednesday he was again only able to do some of the drills.
Porter Jr. is currently involved in a dispute over his contract and has yet to play in a game.
Toward the end of his comments, McCarthy said he did the plan that they had for him yesterday and that any other questions would be addressed by the practice report coming out later Thursday.
