CLEVELAND (93.7 The Fan) – Joey Porter, Junior said he was at a movie theater in Pittsburgh around 11:30p on Wednesday seeing the new Brad Pitt release when he was informed he was traded to the Cowboys. What he said about leaving Pittsburgh and his back.

“Just more of the value, I didn’t really feel there was that over there,” Porter, Junior told the Dallas media on Thursday. “I feel like they are showing me they value me over here so far with the talks that I had. I feel that’s all I need to really show them I can do what I do.”

So he felt disrespected by the Steelers?

“Definitely, it was a hard process, a lot of ups and downs,” Porter, Junior said. “Definitely felt disrespected, definitely felt undervalued. That’s old news now.”

Porter, Junior said he ‘sorta’ thought he would play for the Steelers Thursday night, but he said when he was ruled out for the Browns game, it changed his mindset.

When pressed if being ruled out on Thursday was more his decision or the Steelers?

“It was more on my end, I will say that,” Porter, Junior said.

While saying he’s taking it day-by-day, he believes his back injury will be good enough to play for the Cowboys Sunday at Houston. He even laughed when it was brought up that his injury was magically better.

As for what the Cowboys are getting in the fourth-year corner saying he will play his first game of the year Sunday?

“I feel like I’m a lock-down player,” said Porter, Junior noting it’s nice to have a defensive coordinator rooting for him. “At the end of the day, I feel like I’m a ballplayer that can get anything done, whatever the coaches need of me. I’m going to do whatever I need to for my teammates. I’m trying to hold my smile back.”

He’s already been in contact with the two other former Steelers teammates, George Pickens and Broderick Jones. They told him he would love it in Dallas.

“My whole family has been Dallas fans our whole lives,” Porter, Junior said. “My dad was a Dallas fan, my mom and everything. It’s not the first time we’ve had Stars in the house.”

Porter, Junior said his father already reached out about getting a ticket to the game against the Texans and he’s working on it.

Bottom line.

“Bet on myself,” Porter, Junior said. “Chose you at the end of the day, that’s what I’m doing.”
